In the NAHL, two forms of transactions are allowed. One of them is trading. This consists of a team sending some players, draft pics and such to another team while the other team gives up players, draft picks and such in return. The other transaction allowed in the league is releasing players, which consists of terminating a player from your roster. Free agent acquisitions are not allowed. Unassigned and released players can only be acquired through the entry draft. There will also be no waivers, even when a player on a pro roster is being sent to the farm roster.
Any player assigned to a team can be involved in a transaction. Only draft picks from the current "year" and the next year can be traded. Training camps can also be included in a trade, but only camps from the current season can be traded.
In order to confirm a transaction, all participating GMs must send an email to the commissioner mentioning all parts of the transaction and the type of transaction it is. Only when all parties send in a confirmation will the transaction be confirmed to the league and inputted into the simulator. The GMs involved in the transaction will then be asked to write a press release to the league to announce the move from their point of view.
The trade deadline is set in order to prevent teams from making trades during the playoffs. The deadline is after 80% of the games have been simmed. The trade deadline extends intil after the playoffs are completed. This also applies for teams that don't make the playoffs. The trade deadline will not be extended for any reason.
When a team is vacant, it will not be allowed to make any transactions until the team has a new GM named and this person has fulfilled all obligations as a new GM in this league.
When a new GM is named to a team, this person cannot make any transactions until all new GM obligations have been fulfilled. This GM will have to write a press release to the league stating available players for trade and team goals. The GM must then wait 48 hours before being allowed to make any transactions. This is done in order to give every GM an equal chance of knowing what the new GM wants to do with the team. Note: If a GM joins the league during a trade ban (between trade deadline and end of playoffs), only once a press release is sent to the league after the trade ban is lifted will the 48 hour rule come into effect.
